Video

Videos can convey a lot of information in a relatively short time. They not only attract attention, they also hold it.

  • On a page in edit mode, add the Video content block or open the block's settings   to make adjustments.
  • A content block is always within a section. If you have started with a blank page, first add a section before adding a video block.

Adding a Video

Add a New Video or Replace an Existing Video

Go to the page where you want to add or modify the video and ensure the page is in edit mode. At the top of the purple bar, click on RETURN TO EDIT to switch the page to edit mode. You will now see the section outlines on the page. The edit button  becomes visible to the right of each content block when you hover over the respective block with the mouse.

Two Ways to Add a Video

You can add a new video to the page in two ways:

  1. Start with a new empty block and add a video, filling in the settings yourself.
  2. Use the Section Library to quickly and easily add a section with a video. The settings are already filled in (but can be changed if needed); you only need to replace the video.
Add content - 2 ways

1. Add an empty video block

  • In the column of a section, click + Add block > Choose Video.

Video tools

There are tools online to reduce the size of an mp4 file or convert it from another file format to an mp4 file. For example:

Settings

Settings in Video Block

In the edit screen, you'll find the autoplay option. While autoplay can be useful in some cases, we do not recommend it. Not all browsers support autoplay, so even if this option is enabled, the video will not automatically start in all browsers.

Users often prefer to choose when to play the video themselves. If you want to use autoplay, we recommend setting it only if the video is in the header and immediately visible when the page loads.

General Settings
In the opened edit screen, you can adjust the general settings of the block through the four tabs (Content/Settings/Animation/Advanced). A description of the settings in the different tabs can be found on the edit page

Size and Position on the Page

You can set the size and position of a video on the page in various ways. Read more about this on the size and position:

 Background video

You can also set an mp4 file as the background video of the page, which will then play without sound.
See the Backgrounds page for more information on setting the background video.
